The Mummified Arm Many years ago, a withered mummified child's arm was discovered in the attic of the old White Hart Inn at Caldmore Green in Walsall, the attic had not been in use or bothered with for a very long time. Originally the building was a Tudor manor house where during the civil war of 1642-1649 the Roundheads murdered a man and some years later another murder was committed in the loft. At the beginning of the 20th century a servant girl committed suicide up there. The mystery of how the mummified arm came to be hidden in the inn has never been solved. Eventually it came into the possession of the Walsall Museum where it was placed in a special glass case to become an exhibit. On one occasion a landlady woke up in the night and saw a misty white shape standing by her bed, there had also been numerous reports of strange bumping sounds. Another landlady's son went down into the cellar, and when he was at the far end the lights went out. He made his way back to the light switch by the door but as he was about to reach for the switch the light came back on. Once more he walked to the far end and once more the light went out and as before when he went back to the other end the light came on again. The same happened on his third attempt only this time as he stood there he felt something tap him on his shoulder, the lights went on again but no one was there. Another previous landlord heard the sound of someone crying which was coming from the disused attic where the arm had been found, as the whole of the top storey had been unused for many years, he went up to investigate. He entered the attic and found it empty, the floor was covered in thick dust as was a table standing in the centre of the room but something strange was noticed, very clearly imprinted in the dust was a child's handprint. There were no marks or footprints in the dust on the floor!
