Scary Nights

I can remember that I was about twelve years old when my mother and father decided to do a house exchange. It was a couple of weeks after we had been in the house that things started to happen.

My sister had her own room she was 14years old, my younger brother and I shared a room together. The first night I was lying in bed nearly asleep when I heard noises that sounded like footsteps, I went straight under the covers and remember laying there sweating until I fell asleep. After that it was happening every night, when my father told me it was time for bed I would be terrified to go upstairs. Once in my room I would shut the door and freeze, scared even to turn the light off. Then it was light off and jump into bed straight under the covers and wait until at all started again (which it did) every night.

One night I heard my chest of drawer's open, in the morning all my clothes were on the floor. The worst was yet to come, as I lay under the covers one night I heard whatever it was near me, I was hit on the head by what I can only assume was a rolled up newspaper or comic. This activity went on for a long time until I finally had to tell my parents about it as I was getting no sleep and felt very tired in the morning, I also worried about it during the day.

After I told my dad what I thought was happening he also had heard and seen things. He told me that he and my mum had seen their wardrobe move back and forth from the wall. But his worst nightmare was when he got up to find out what the noise was on the landing he told me that he felt he floated from the top of the stairs to the bottom without touching one. Whatever it was, after we moved out there were at least 4 families that lived there but not for long. The last people Mr. and Mrs. D**** had a priest in and they spent the rest of their lives there. Hopefully whatever it was is now at rest.
