Readers Stories
Racing Spirit. I was riding my bike round the TT course, which are open roads and which are closed to public traffic during the racing periods, but open when the racing isn't on. I was riding at a part of the circuit known as Ginger Hall, which is a left-hand bend, when I saw a man standing on the left hand side of the road next to a spewed sign for 50mph. He was smiling and waving at me so I waved back and carried on my way. I thought it was a strange place to stand as the footpath is on the right hand side of the road. He was wearing casual clothing with reddish ginger hair. I carried on my way and went home. Later that evening I was reading our local free newspaper called the Courier, when I reached the sports section I noticed there was a picture of the very same man. As I read the article it stated that this racer called K****** M***** was killed at that very spot the day before. It freaked me out slightly but after some thought realised that he was smiling so he was in good form. Every time I ride past that spot I say hello to him.
