Readers Stories The Man that Never Was. I have had many different paranormal experiences in my life and didn't realise that I had a gift until I was about 16. One experience that I had quite a few years ago now has always stuck in my mind. It was a nice bright and sunny day and my mother and I started out on a journey to Leicester. My mother was driving and we decided to take the most scenic route there, laughing and singing as we always did and enjoying the scenery on our way. It was only when we got to Leicester that we got hopelessly lost and time was getting on a bit; we really needed to get some good directions to where we wanted to go. I had arranged to meet with a few Franciscan monks for a chat about entering a holy order as I felt then that I had a calling to this kind of lifestyle. We knew that we were going in the right direction but not where the place we wanted was actually located? We drove down a street in Leicester town centre and I spotted a tall man, I would guess, in his mid to late fifties, he was walking on the pavement towards us. I turned to mum to ask her to stop so that I could ask him if he knew the address we needed and could give us directions, she pulled over and I wound down the window. At this point the street seemed to clear and go very quiet with no people around at all, which seemed pretty odd, as this was Leicester town centre. I called the man over and asked him if he knew where the address we wanted was; he replied "Yes! I go there quite often". He proceeded to give us directions, we then thanked him but before we moved away we both turned around and he had gone, disappeared and there wasn't really time for him to go into a building or walk far enough away so that we couldn't see him. Eventually, we found the place we were looking for and both of us were greeted with kindness. We told the monks about the man who said that he visited them often and described him to them but they denied knowing anyone of that description that still visits them. However, one of the monks said that there was a man of that description that used to visit them regularly there but he died about five years ago of a massive heart attack... A strange experience but perfectly true!
