Walking the Dog.

A friend of mine was born and raised in a small village called Blisland in Cornwall, UK. Having spent most of her life in the village, she knew everyone who lived there and they knew her.

She had found herself a job, after leaving school and had moved out of the village to a nearby town, to be closer to her new job. Every weekend she would return to the village to visit her family.

One particular weekend, during the summer, she was driving along the narrow country lane, which leads into the village, when she saw a man walking his dog coming towards her. As she got closer she recognized the man to be Mr. *****, an elderly chap who lived a few doors down from her parents house.

She slowed down her car to allow the man and his dog to tuck themselves into the hedge so enabling her to get past them. As she passed them she waved to the old chap and said thank you. He in return waved back and gave her a big friendly smile. Then on she went to her parent's house, thinking no more about the encounter.

She had been at her parent's house for a few hours when her mum suddenly said, "Oh, I forgot o tell you. You know old Mr. ***** who lives down the road?" "Yes", she replied and was about to say that she had seen him earlier, when her mum continued, "He was run over by a car whilst walking his dog, yesterday. Both he and the dog were killed".
