Readers Stories The Black Veil I had a strange experience 15 years ago. I woke up and got of bed as usual and I went downstairs to make my three-month-old daughters breakfast. When I was walking back up the stairs to get my daughter out of her cot, I felt something was wrong with her. I paused for a moment outside her bedroom door, with a feeling of dread all over my body. I opened the door, and as it swung open I saw a black veil in front of the window. I was confused at what I saw and stared at it for a couple of seconds, it was hovering, then it disappeared, to my horror my daughter had passed in the night with sudden infant death syndrome, or cot death as its typically known. I have often thought about what the veil was, I came to the conclusion it was either death or a soul coming to take my daughter, or maybe it was her soul, I don't know.
