One man and his dog.

When I was around 11yrs old, my sister and I were asleep in the back room of our terraced house in East Dulwich, London, when the air went icy cold.

It woke us both up, and in the corner diagonally opposite me stood a man wearing a tweed outfit, and carrying a long thin object. His dog (a Labrador) moved around the room, sniffing both my sister and me although the man did not move. We were both petrified, and unaware that the other had witnessed the event or woken up.

The next day one of us (I can't recall who), said "I saw a strange thing last night..." which got us talking, and we were relieved to find that we had both experienced the same thing. The only thing we disagreed on was that the man was either carrying a gun or a walking stick, but owing to his apparel we called him the 'Squire'.

Many years later when our mother heard us talking about the Squire, she admitted that before we were born, he had appeared in the same corner of the same room when her mother had been ill. Her mother had even asked who the man standing in the corner was!

Although we never saw him again, we saw his dog and heard and felt a cat running around, as well as every day other things happening like objects disappearing and reappearing in unlikely places, etc. Sometimes without warning we would become very scared for no apparent reason. Our uncle has since also admitted that he used to see a woman in white when he visited us.

The house is still standing, and I've no idea if the present owners are experiencing similar things to us.
