Readers Stories The plague pit site Approx. 8-10 years ago my sister moved house from Wymering to the Paulsgrove, area of northern Portsmouth, and all seem to be OK, she was then married and had two small children. After a couple of months certain things started happening around the house that couldn't be explained, being touched and hit on the head when you were in a room alone, an electric fire that even when you put your hand directly in front of it never got hot, animals would do their best to escape from the house never to return, and strange "shadows" going past open doors. My sister eventually split from her then husband and everything started to go quiet, then she found a new boyfriend and things started up again, same as before but more frequent. My sister's friend, who was very psychic, moved in with her and her boyfriend for a while. It was this friend that came face to face with an entity at the top of the stairs. She described it as about 6.5 to 7.0 ft tall dressed completely in a monks type robe with his head cowled and looking down with arms crossed. She said that it felt pure evil and was going to hurt someone, but she also stated that their appeared to be another entity that wasn't evil, dressed in white, that she felt was protecting her and the family. My sister friend eventually decided to move out. One night my sister was asleep, boyfriend beside her, when she was awoken by the feeling of being pressed down on, so hard in fact that she could hardly breath. She managed to look to the bottom of the bed and see the same cowled figure pressing down on her feet, she said she couldn't move, breath or even scream, her boyfriend was completely unaware of what was happening. This bit sounds like something from a film bit I assure you my sister swears blind it happened my sister and I have always been the closes out of our family and she had nothing to gain by lying to me. Whilst this entity pressed down her she noticed a while figure, dressed in a tunic, similar to Roman Style dress, emerge from the vicinity of where her wardrobe was. Upon seeing this figure the attacking entity appeared to be startled even frightened and vanished. Her boyfriend eventually gave an ultimatum that if they did not move he would end the relationship. They eventually moved. I know it sounds really out there but I don't tell what she experienced much to people as the most common reaction is ridicule, I promise to you what I have related is the truth and nothing is fabricated or deceitful. I have since found out that the family who moved into the house after my sister, also experienced weird stuff happening but I don't know what exactly. A little boy was killed directly outside the house in a freak accident, car related, that should not have killed him due to the very low speed of the car. Cars would also, with their handbrakes on and in gear, suddenly roll down the road, amazing seeing the road was on the level with no slope! I also heard that the current family ended up calling in an exorcist...I don't know the result. I researched the history of the house after my sister moved out and found that the site was once used as a plague pit and in the early 19th century a racecourse, occupied the site. The figure of the roman coming from the wardrobe was later described to my sister by a very good and reliable medium we had in Portsmouth, L** B*****, he has now retired and does no more paranormal related work. He described this roman figure exactly how my sister had seen him and told her that it was one of her spirit guides, L** knew nothing of the history of the haunting surrounding my sister or the story of the paranormal attack or the Roman.
